ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteJani, did you see "Scott Pilgrim Vs the World"?
ReplyDeleteThat movie is much more than the words can describe xD
Yeah, I saw it. I thought it was ok, a lot of gamer humor and stuff. Didn't think it was that great though, expected more. Just not my cup of tea I guess.
DeleteJani, what was the stupidest question someone ever asked you?
ReplyDeleteAside from this one? :)
DeleteJani: EPIC WIN!
DeleteI swear that I knew it !
DeleteI have quite a few questions actually: Your favorite guitar (acoustic & electric), favorite pick, favorite amp, some of the pedals you use for electric guitar, hair products (you have such a beautiful hair, btw :D), video games, bands, idols (you probably don't have any now, but when you were a kid), favorite place in the world, wardrobe... All you can know about Jani!
ReplyDeleteJ-Li playing Skyrim and Fallout!?!?!?! Hahaha I'm playing them too! Good to hear!^^
ReplyDeleteCheers!
Final Fantasy VII - The best and greatest video game hands down. There will never be another like it.
ReplyDeleteAlso suggestions: There used to be a lot of questions about your time in Sonata Arctica and your departure (People who have not been privy to previous posts might still have misconceptions about it). Also constant questions about CO, the new album, stratovarius, etc, etc.I think it might be worthwhile to put that stuff on this page if we are holding to the true definition of FAQ.
I totally agree with you
DeleteI'm 8 cm taller than you. God, I hate being tall. Although, you know what they say about tall men ;)
ReplyDeleteI know, they have problems with their bones, not enough calcium or some shit xD
DeleteOk Jani, time for unusual question:
-What is your favourite porn actress ?
Wow,thanks! I can die happy now!
ReplyDeletewhat's about brain size and IQ? either massive?
ReplyDeleteWhy didn't you release 13th disciple? It's a damn good song.
ReplyDeleteCompletely agree. Didn't know it until now. Gràcies Jordi!
DeleteNo sabies l'existència d'aquesta cançó? És bonissima! Please answer us Jani!
DeleteThink it that way: if they really had released it, we wouldn't have heard Jani singing :)
DeleteI'd like to see it in the album! The one in youtube has really bad quality ;)
DeleteWhat's your favourite book?
ReplyDeleteNot you are redhead??!! I have lived fooled by that, and yes, the marron is boring :/
ReplyDeleteI also like, liked, menthol cigarettes, no smoke, forbade me when I punch the "septum".

What your longest finger's length? (of the damn hand)
ReplyDeleteDo you have a GF?
ReplyDeleteMaybe I'm getting inside business that are not mine, but I think that personal questions maybe aren't the best ones to do.
DeleteGirlfriend? No details, just a simple yes or no answer to get these crazy chicks off your back :)
ReplyDelete...who says he wants these crazy chicks off his back? XD
ReplyDeletehi jani!
ReplyDeletei'm a collector of your live shows in video or audio lossless, i can send you this material if you need, and my question is... you have things (videos, audios, photos) of tricky beans or Tricky Means season ??? sorry for my english, cheers from chile. visit mi blog
http://darkwolftrader.blogspot.com/
Hey DarkwolfTrader, I have seen you in youtube a lot of times with videos never seen about Sonata and my question is: Why don't you make them public, as a live museum of old Sonata? Many people enjoy their old shows with Jani and all but I also see them to learn some techniques.
DeleteGracias!
Like Jordi said... 'cause It's digital stuff, is it really that bad to let the world see them too.. You don't really own it anyway, those are bootlegs, if everybody who have bootleg would made them public, it wouldn't be a problem.. it's not like a paint or something.. You don't legaly own it anyway.
DeleteJust my opinion
Jordi:
Deleteeveryone ask me this, but I think it would be better to make them public later, have not come to light recently and after a few years will be better, and future generations can know the Jani and Mikko era, the best of the band. (personal opinion)
I've also never win money to collect these things, is a hobby and I would like to useful later.
Onnekas:
DeleteI understand your opinions and are valid, I'm just a fan and collecting is my hobby, not illegal materials are stored, this videos and audios are recording for the same audience of the shows, and i never made a profit by these, i only the exchange free.
visit my blog and read my rules for exchange of bootlegs ;) greetings!
Well I'm one of this "future generations" and your stuff is HQ so I always wanted to see them. And I understand your opinion. Yes, you're a collector and you have collected that stuff for a long time. But since there's not many Jani stuff around there... Well I hope to see them anyways^^
DeleteMaybe post in your blog 1 show a week or something and if anyone want to own them just exchange it. Isn't a good idea? Cheers!
Hi, I'm "imcominforyou" from YouTube. I try to consistently upload SA bootlegs for everyone else to watch. The only problem now is that I've been suspended from uploading videos over 15 minutes. So I have a question for you...Would you rather have me upload shows in 15 minute segments, or do it song-by-song? Here are some shows I have right now that aren't uploaded.
DeleteSonata Arctica - Entrance to Kingdom, Japan
Sonata Arctica - La Locomotive, Paris, France
SA - Mazda Palace, Italy (includes interviews)
SA - Brazil 2008
SA - Opera House, Toronto, Canada
Woot I'm one of your subscribers. Amazing quality of your vids dude. Not song by song, because it'll take lot of time. Go and upload shows in 15 minute segments :) Let me do one question: You asked why the hell did a youtube guy got acces to 13th Disciple, do you have any news?
DeleteMy only guess is that the uploader (who I hear is Finnish) received the track from the drummer, Hurtsi, who he thanks in the description on the video. But something interesting to note is that on Blabbermouth, before the album was released, it was said that 13th Disciple was going to be a track on the album...Probably stuff you could figure out yourself, but thought I would mention it. That's why I think Jani doesn't know about how 13th Disciple was leaked.
DeleteOne little thing Jordi, it's Canada not Cadana ! You should chek your Dvd section.. I understand that your english isn't perfect and you can't correct all mistakes but that one should be corrected ! :)
ReplyDeletethanks, I'm not Jordi, But I Understand :)
DeleteGreetings from Chile
I didn't say anything about Canada :D
DeleteDe fet podríem passar tots al català, visto lo visto. Total Canadà també porta accent obert a la A... Que no nos enganyen, que nos digan la verdà! Força Jordi!
DeleteHahahaha ben dit! LOL'd!
DeleteWhat effect do you feel being in Sonata Arctica has had on your music career? Do you feel like it's a shadow always looming over you and that people will always keep asking you questions about your time in the band or has it opened doors for you?
ReplyDeleteI've got a question: when is the tracklist for the acoustic album going to be announced? I'm dying to find out what songs you guys chose! (If you'll excuse the exaggeration...)
ReplyDeleteLove the new lay out! Love the stuff you post and dig your guitar playing a lot, actually SA got me into metal since I wanted to play something else than classic music on guitar, The end of this chapter. Will never forget that one ;) greeting from A follow shredder
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteWoo, you like Fringe! best tv-serie I've ever seen :D
ReplyDeletealso my hair color is as boring as yours -.- I've dyed it with some kind of orange-reddish.
It's great how you've changed your blog, and interesting to know some facts about you :) and thanks for all the guitar stuff!!
You're awesome, hope to meet you some day. Hugs!
That painful moment when in your movies list there is not BEING JOHN MALKOVICH...
ReplyDeleteDo you still own that Ibanez JPM?
ReplyDelete2 unusual question, i think.
ReplyDelete- Which's the best place (Country or City) to drink?
- Do you smoke weed?
chile obviously ajajajajajajajaja
DeleteWell, that i'm think
C:
Jani, two questions:
ReplyDelete1. How many tattoos do you have and where?
2. Have I understood right that "The River Runs Dry" by Sturm Und Drang is composed by you? How about the lyrics, is the whole song yours?
Thank you :)
1. I have 4 tattoos, 3 in my right arms and 1 in my left arm
Delete2. Yes, I wrote both the music and the lyrics for that one.
how many right arms do you have? xD I just can see one xD
DeleteFavourite Sport? Favourite Guitar? Favourite band/s? Favourite way to spend free time? Kiitos paljon!
ReplyDeleteHi. That what I'm doing now is one of my dreams. I always wanted meet you, but Finland is so far away (from Poland) and this is only way to contact with you but who knows maybe i will reach my second dream and visit Finland. When I read you FAQ i saw we are very familiar but I'm so lazy as a guitarist. I don't know what should i do to find motivation for practice also I don't know how connect everyday responsibilities and practices. What should i do and where find power and don't makes exercises boring? I always wanted to be that good as you. I hope is not too late.
ReplyDeletejani since you're from Finland, can you tell me that means:
ReplyDeleteReinikainen Emppu and certainly that means your last name?
greetings.
WTF? :)
Deletecontact me arkarya_official@hotmail.com, well what I meant was if I could teach the language suomi, because I want to rename and Finland want a name. Another reason is that I want you to tell me What does this name and this name: Emppu Reinikainen.
Deleteexample: Kari: happy.
sorry for my bad English, greetings.
Hey Jani, have you tried jagermeister in high doses? it produces two effects: it gets you an artificial sense of happiness and it also makes ugly women look all right at nightclubs at 4:00am. Side effects may include waking up next to a wale (no that I hate nature). Also, I wrote a little thing based in your young guitar demo, if you hate it, please let me know, that will keep me drinking:

Hey Jani, Italy here!
ReplyDeleteI recently found this blog, and I frequently read it to know about you since I really care! (Ok, maybe in a strange way since we never met or know each other, but, you know, music and art can establish a kind of kinship between people which sometimes is even stronger than the one you have with people you see everyday but for whom you basically don't give a f)
Just got in here to tell you a few things, I really hope you read this message.. First, thank you A LOT for the beautiful music you played back in the days of old, with Sonata until it lasted. I saw you twice on the European leg of the Reckoning Night tour alongside Nightwish (I was there for you, not for them even though they were headlining - gig in Milan on October 28th, 2004 was the first of my life!)and it was really AWESOME. Nowadays I've seen tons of gigs, but I keep those memories of your's as some of the dearest I can recall. Second, back in the days you were my idol in fact of guitar, and YOU inspired me to buy my first guitar at 16 - I don't know how this makes you feel, or if you can care less about it, since I feel like you are a very reserved person in a certain way (only impression!), but I only wanted you to know cause it meant a lot for me, believe me. Now I'm 24, still playing, different things, but still remember who you are and how much I loved and am still loving your guitar playing, so fast, clean, accurate and melodic. Third, last summer I bought Cain's Offering album and it was special, awesome! Morpheus lyrics are beautiful. I wonder what else of beautiful things could you do in Sonata if you had more space for write your own things.. but you know, this is life - never look back. I was really happy when I heard of your new albums and stuff, please keep on playing you talented basterd!! And remember, if you ever plan a tour with CO don't forget about Italy!!! I wish you all the best, really!
Andrea
Do you like dancing?
ReplyDeleteAnd are you a good cook?
(I mean, not at the same time, of course :p)
And your weight?
ReplyDeleteJani...
ReplyDeleteMaybe you never gonna read my comment, but I loved Sonata with you, and it's hard to love it without you.
Get a band... Make a band. You are, for me and many other guitarist, one of the best electric guitarist in the world. Some years ago, I had a dream, I wished to see Sonata arctica, but this dream faded when you had to leave the band.
Come back, you'r metal, you have great ideas (remember "My Selene" !) and a huge guitar skill.
-from méxico
Jani, what can you tell me about "Cain's Offering"?
ReplyDeleteI really loved "Gather the Faithful", and I'm sure I'm not the only one. Would like to see more of it :)
Thanks!
Are you mathematically talented? Many people have claimed that it goes hand in hand with linguistic skills that you obviously have :) I have kinda always wondered this...
ReplyDeleteJani i've always wondered, in your case when you were in SA when Tony wrote the songs he just told you to come up with the solo for that song or usually the songwriter compose everything? I mean i never knew (in all bands in general) if the song was not written by the guitar/keyboard player how do they come up with a solo? they compose it themselves or the one who composed the whole song?
ReplyDeletethanks man! i admire you a lot! Greetings
I did the solos, of course. What a weird question :)
Deleteyeah i know i sounded stupid but i had to know the truth hahah and do you bring up like tons of solos and then everyone choose the best one or you just come up with a hell of a solo?
DeleteJani, i'm not a fanboy or anything related to that but since you and Timo Tolkki are my Fav guitar players, do you have any opinions about him? musically speaking
ReplyDeleteHeey Jani! well i like to know if you still remains the contact with the members of Sonata?
ReplyDeleteYes, every now and then.
DeleteHave you thought about throwing a solo album?
ReplyDeleteSame question here
DeleteYes. Maybe I'll do it at some point.
Delete1.-Could you date someone even if it was ten years younger than you?
ReplyDelete2.-What was your best gig?
1. Yes
Delete2. I can't really say, there's been so many great ones.
3.-You speak another language apart from Finnish and English?
Delete3. Not really, some Swedish, and I do understand some German and some Spanish.
DeleteI speak Spanish, well it's because I'm from Chile.
Deletesaludos desde Chile (:
de qué parte de Chile eres?? creí que estaba sola xD I'd love to hear you speaking spanish, Jani :D
DeleteSANTIAGO
Deletegenial! somos 2 xD
Deletewhat about 13 years younger than you, Jani? xD
DeleteOh good The Lord of Rings is my favourite Trilogy, and now The Hobbit too, you know.
ReplyDeleteAnd the games the Final Fantasy, and Skyrim, are good games, but my favourites are the Frets on Fire, and the Prototype 1 and 2, play that games. ;)
I hope you like it :)
ReplyDeletehttp://youtu.be/3dZUDvIXeXI
Jani what do you think about that swedish band, Ghost BC ?? ... I hear yesterday that they are touring with Iron Maiden, and in september they´ll be here in South America, so i was wondering, do you like them ?
ReplyDeleteI haven't heard them, so I can't really say.
DeleteI thought they were known in Europe, like iron maiden is bringing them here as a special guest...
DeleteAnyway, was to much to ask you to hear a song before you answer??? haha...
Thanks anyway !!
Do you like guitar as much as you like men's butts?
ReplyDeleteAlmost, but not as much as the female ones.
DeleteHi Jani!!
ReplyDeleteGotta say, you're taste in movies is rather good. Inception was a fantastic movie!! Although, did you ever watch this one movie that came out about...oh, couldn't have been more than a year at most. It's called "Premium Rush". About bike riders in New York and they deliver messages and stuff and one guy was trying to hunt a certain message down. (for reasons that I won't list, it'd spoil the movie) But did you see it? If so, what'd you think of it? I thought it was rather good, considering filming bike riders isn't exactly a piece of cake.
Jani! Any plans of coming to Colombia??
ReplyDeleteWe have great woman! ;)
Hi Jani!
ReplyDeleteWhat's your favorite band? and which one is easier to learn how to play.. guitar or bass?
Please, come to Chile someday! I'll be so pleased to receive you here :D
¡Hi Jani from México!
ReplyDeleteWell, My english is not good; but when i saw your blog, I thought it is a good choice to express to you this:
You are my favorite guitarist and I love your job with Sonata Arctica, with Cain's Offering, with Dream Asylum, with Sydänpuu, And more.
You have a great technique and speed your guitar solos are amazing.
I have a year playing guitar and I really hope to play like you, you are my main inspiration and you should know that if it has an answer I would be very happy.
Well, I don't want to look like a fanboy, so I'll ask: Have you played in México?
Thank you! (:
Jani!!!!!!!!!!!
Ok, i don't want to bore you with comments sickly or psychopaths, but I must add that I've been around two years looking for signs of life from my 'supposedly' favorite guitarist and just now I found this blog! hoho, Well i would like to ask you if there are chances that you can publish the lyrics of "where my rainbow ends" later? this 'cause i'm not good learning with only listen the songs when are in english... (it can explain my awful english too) And i've not found this lyrics in any other site from... lyrics D: .. I hope that you consider my comment, and i'll hope your reply too. Greetings from far far away, a stupid Jani's stalker :D
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteDo you consider yourself as an optimistic or a pessimistic person? maybe a realistic one?
ReplyDeleteGreetings from Chile :)
Oh... That awkward when you see that Jani likes the same things I use to... Anyway, it doesn't matter... Jani, you are an amazing musician! Congratulations for all your projects, and thanks for being my daily inspiration to play guitar!!
ReplyDeleteGreetings from Brazil!!! Best wishes for you Jani!!! :)
Jani you Lappi-turd,
ReplyDeleteHave you heard of Buckethead? If not, you should have a listen to 'Nottingham Lace', especially the solo at the end. Sure you will love it!!

Ever thought about hair transplant?
ReplyDeleteJani...
ReplyDeleteOne of my biggest regrets in life is missing the show you did in New Hampshire, USA during the Reckoning tour...I was wondering if you had any particular memories of visiting NH and what you thought of it? In case you can't remember, it was the show during which some strippers sneaked behind you guys on the stage...there was a videoclip of it on YouTube. You seemed pleasantly surprised when you noticed the dancers, but I was wondering what Tony's reaction was when he realized that he wasn't the star of the stage? The video cuts off before we get to see Tony's reaction. He seemed to think the crowd's roaring cheers during that moment were for him, haha...
Minulla on kysymys:
ReplyDeleteKuka on henkilö, joka inspiroi sinua eniten?
ja, extra...
Kuka on suosikkisi muumi-hahmoista?
kiitos ;)
Rock on Jani! Congrats to Liimatainen mom and dad, they produced an overall awesome person back in '79. Hate you back.
ReplyDeleteDid it hurt when you separated from sonata?
ReplyDeleteJani where have you been in my life!... what are you doing nowdays and are you interested in making a new album?
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteHey Jani, Did you Like The Peruvian Soccer Team T-shirt's (Kotipelto & Liimatainen) and Chullo that I gave Timo in Argentina?
ReplyDeleteCome soon to Lima!m!
Hi Jani, I'll be honest: I love SA and obviously I would like to see you back in the band. Just a question: Do you follow them anymore? Have you listened to their last albums? Regards from Spain :)
ReplyDeletewould take into account re-sonata arctica??
ReplyDeleteGreetings Jani wanted to ask you a question when your group release a new album Cain's Offering, 2015? many people in the world is anxiously waiting to hear their new masterpiece and talent, and no longer see him talk about touring, you have an amazing talent is the new 21st century yngwie definitely. await your response, Regards from spain

ReplyDeleteHey Jani, I just wish to say that you are my biggest inspiration
ReplyDeleteand that your solos just change my state of mind, soul, whatever
you rock. Sonata emotion died when you left, hope to see more
of you in this year.
Nightwish Wishmaster What do you think about this allbum and the band?
ReplyDeleteDid you have your guitrars custom made smaller for you? Guitars are usually for taller people, we are the same height, so I was wondering...
ReplyDeleteJani do me a son XD
ReplyDeleteI talk for all
PD last week I can listened a show at ankkarock from 2005 with Sonata, nice harmonics and in Weballergy you play with seven strings?
Hey Jani...If it's not possible to do more Cain's Offering recordings at this time, please at least give us some instrumental albums in the same style to fulfill our needs. You are one of the few Metal musicians left who can still create true magic, and that's what we need in our lives now more than ever.
ReplyDeletejaja HDP !!!
ReplyDeletePoor Mr. Liimatainen ... The things he has to read...
I want you come to chile! >:c I love u
ReplyDeleteHei Jani-poika! Love your style of lead guitar, miss it at Sonata and Altaria!! Can't wait for the new Cain's Offering album to come out(!!!!!). But I was wondering, have you ever thought about releasing a Jani Liimatainen Teaches Your How To Shred APP on iTunes??? Would love to buy your lessons from a true lead God. Like Guitar World has videos for 1.99 euro's, so that's an idea, right??
ReplyDeleteKeep up the good leads,
Andrew (Belgium)
