...still working on the album, every day. It's coming along, slowly but surely. Tomorrow it's time to take a little trip again and head to the woods again to record some backing vocals. This time it's not the woods of Lappajärvi though :)

Saturday night fever...

So, it's Saturday night, everyone else is out and about having fun, and what am I doing? Well, I'm bouncing my software synth tracks into audio files. It just dawned to me today that I have to make every fucking track into an audio file, and there are literally hundreds of them. The sheer amount of time this takes is daunting, but it has to be done. Well, one song down, eleven to go...

Up and Date

So, for the last half a year or so everytime the labels have asked me for a deadline and a delivery date for the master I have said that I'm not going to give them one, it's ready when it's ready. Today I've booked the mixing for the album and also agreed on a tentative deadline for the delivery of the master. Now this fucking abstract concept of an album actually has a "due date", so to speak, and has become very real :)

It's nice to hear Mozart had some issues as well. I'm by no means comparing myself to him, but the creative process is pretty how described here. The actual process that is, not the myth. It doesn't work that way, at least not for me.

It would seem like nature decided to intervene with our recording process. Last night we lost electricity, total blackout. Actually all of Lappajärvi and also a lot of neighbouring places were out of power, so I guess it's not just us that Mother Nature hates.

This of course puts a slight dent in the recording schedule, we are not going to be ready with the vocals by tomorrow. It turns out I will have to come here one more time to finish up the lead vocals with Timo, probably next week.

Actually the blackout wasn't all bad, it was funny to sit in the candlelight and watch movies from our laptops that still had some battery left while having some beers :) Or course it would've been better to actually record some music, but no-can-do....

Yesterday we managed to finish up one more song, so now it's 9 down 2 to go. Today we will tackle the title track of the upcoming album.
