@home and going strong
Today I did a nine hour day re-working one song we wrote with Timo, and it was 9 hours well spent. It sounds way better now. It's pretty different from everything we've done so far but sounds damn good nevertheless. Now I'm having a drink and going through all the songs we have so far for the next album and pondering one thing: Should there be an instrumental song, like "Gather the Faithful" was on the debut album? Not sure yet.

an instrumental with alot of lead guitars(fast stuff and a lot of good phrasing)with orchestration...could be awesome!!like if revontulet fuck with gather the faithful! :P
ReplyDeleteI still think you should sing on this one, but you don't want...
ReplyDeleteSo maybe an instrumental song would be too repetitive, exactly like the first album. Try something new :D
I have a top-tier vocalist doing the leads so there is no need for me to step in and make it worse :) I will be doing a lot of the backing vocals of course, as usual.
DeleteBut you guys could sing a duet! Why not?
DeleteYour only problem is that you don't think of yourself as a vocalist, otherwise you're already top-tier. Your voice is amazing, and your technique's better than a lot of the pro singers out there. You're as good as any vocalist you've worked with (did Timo tell you otherwise? Is that what stopped you?)
DeleteThough I would like to hear you sing in Cain's Offering, I understand your reasons for choosing not to. It would be like dismissing Timo for you to step up and do his job. And a true friend doesn't do that. Everyone should respect your decision for the sake of CO and future collaboration.
DeleteI'm sure we all respect that :)
DeleteAnd I'm also sure you would never make it worse, Jani! ;)
But at least we can listen to your voice on backing vocals!
Jani you have a great voice!! I find it really odd you don't believe that - I mean you sing lead vocals for Sydänpuu and sound amazing :)
DeleteBut I agree with Gabriela and I respect your decision about it :) Will be good to hear you doing backing vocals though!
I'm not a big fan of instrumenal songs in which they musicians show how fast and good they are playing their instrument but to show in another way what they couldnt with words. i love instrumental songs such as Dimmu Borgir's Perfection or Vanity and Fear and Wonder! those songs are badass and i'm sure you can pull something like that off
ReplyDeleteWell, I love the instrumental songs and if you play a solo with the keyboards is better. Wait, not all the time, just a little parts of the songs... Well, I don't know, I'm just a little fan but is awesome when you "shred".
ReplyDeleteAn instrumental would sound amazing, I would like to have symphonic elements, but that should be you, would equal an instrumental good, greetings see.
ReplyDeleteNOW you're having a drink? I thought you'd have had your drink WHILE writing.
ReplyDeleteI love instrumental songs too. First one that comes to my mind is Manowar's "Today is a good day to die". Wonderful song, I would not mind it to sound somewhere in the skies when I'll be leaving this frail world :D Imho, the best song in the album.

I'd say go for it. When you obviously can make awesome songs, one good instrumental can hardly ruin an album. Critics always hate instrumentals, but they can jump off a cliff.
ReplyDeleteYes, rarely we listen your instrumental art, and is an oportunity again! Btw, I'm curious what will be the name of the album :O
ReplyDeleteI'd love to hear another instrumental masterpiece of yours...I think it brings a nice transition while listening to the original track list in GTF from More than Friends and Oceans of Regret to Into the Blue etc...cheers Jani, keep kicking ass!
ReplyDeleteYes to the instrumental song! Nothing fast or too "glorious" but something pure and unpolished. Just you and your emotions/passion flowing into your instrument. That would be perfect :)
ReplyDeleteThen again I don't know if something like that fits the rest of the album....
Yeah, why not? Let there be another one!
ReplyDeleteAlso, I sincerely hope for more of your awesome solos on this new one..
Good work!
Please, do it!
ReplyDeleteJani grandiose will hear instruments! will have bonus track CD? You should sing your in the bonus track, don't you think?
ReplyDeleteYou should definitely do another instrumental like gather the faithful. It fit in perfectly with the rest of the songs! Bring out your inner hans Zimmer :)
ReplyDeleteDEFINITELY!!! :3
ReplyDeleteNot just an instrumental song, can we have an instrumental track full of shredding solos? We haven't gotten any from you since your last demo on Young Guitar (which took me a month to cover back then)
