Helloween

Listened through the new Helloween album today, quite a disappointment... "Waiting For The Thunder" has a nice chorus and "Straight Out Of Hell" is an ok song, and that's about it... I was really looking forward to this, but no... :(

EDIT:

I'll take it back a bit. I listened to the album again today while exercising, and it's not THAT bad. "Live Now!" and "Burning Sun" also have their moments. Still definitely not as good as I was hoping and expecting, but not a total failure either.

  1. I havn't really liked anything after keeper of the seven keys. Theres some stuff here and there but for the most part its just not my thing.

    1. I think "Master of the Rings" is phenomenal, probably better than either of the Keeper-albums (Yeah, I know, heresy, but that's just my opinion)

    2. "The Time of the Oath" and "Gambling with the Devil" were also good albums. Keeper's are just OK, no need to lie that those aren't the best albums for me (unpopular opinion here)

    3. I don't like the Keeper-albums so much. Master of the rings is great and so is Time of the oath! They are my favourites (at least of those I know), and 7 sinners is quite good, as well.

    4. I personally like pretty much all the albums with Andi, I don't think he is a bad singer as some people around say. What Michael and Kai did was awesome, no doubt about it, but let's face it, they won't come back. Andi has been in the band for more years than Michael, and he has done a very nice job. (Of course this is my humble opinion. Nobody has to necessarily agree)

  2. Oh, that's not nice to hear. I was kind of excited about it, too... Well, need to buy it anyway to get my own oppinion but still... hmm. :(

    1. Ok I listened to it now and I don't think it's that bad. Maybe not really surprising or so, but still good enough to listen to it sometimes.
I do like Nabataea quite a lot, these speed changes make it kinda interesting. And Hold Me In Your Arms is beautiful.
The rest is between boring and good. I think I don't need to be afraid though to feel too bored when I see them live, haha.

  3. Woop... What a pity, I was looking forward to it too. But well, nothing we can do :( I still have to check it out tho.

  4. it is obvious that new Hello is shit. the reason is simple - you aren't part of it. if you wrote only one song for them it would be the greatest album of the year. am I right? LOL

  5. It's not shit, it just is not very good. Which is a shame, as I like the band and "7 Sinners" had some pretty damn good songs.

  6. And speaking of Helloween and shit: Anyone else think the CGI in "Nabataea"-video looks insanely cheap and crappy?

    1. Omg you're right, but still better than "Just a Little Sign" video.

    2. I think that 'cheap and crappy' is a definition of all Hello's creation but it's they charm. you can like it or not.
and regressive CGI could be deliberate action.

  7. Yeah but most metal videos do, I have had some fun nights watching the "hellish videos" dvd from Helloween.

About the new album, I think it is pretty great actually, most songs sounded more positife than 7 sinners and I like Helloween like this.
It aint Better than raw or the legacy, which are my favorite albums but its pretty good and thats after just one listen, I really am gonna listen more, usually I keep on finding things I like on new Helloween releases.

  8. Well, to each his/her own :) I'm still gonna give this one a chance, but I doubt it'll ever become one of my favorite Helloween albums. I've never been a big fan of their shiny-happy songs anyway, I like the darker stuff.

  9. Listened through the album after reading this blog entry and "Waiting for the Thunder" is definitely the gem of this album - love the chorus :)
